the one with Christmas 2011

This Christmas was wonderful!  We were surrounded by family, friends and good food.  Plus, because Christmas was on the weekend, my firm gave us Friday and Monday off so it was a nice long weekend!!  Merry Christmas to me!

On Christmas Eve, we had a pretty relaxing day.  I prepped my dishes that morning - au gratin potatoes and cinnamon rolls - and finished wrapping a few gifts.  We ran to the mall to help my FIL get one more gift then had lunch with my family at Snuffers - all 12 of us - before Prestonwood's Candlelight Service.  Brian's grandmother always has his whole extended family over for homemade tamales and presents!  It's such a fun time!  Every Christmas Eve we go to Midnight Mass with the Grahams.  This year we picked a service at Highland Park Presbyterian and I really enjoyed the combination of scripture reading, carols and candles.

On Christmas Day, I woke up early to finish making Cinnamon Rolls.  Then we headed to my parent's house for Christmas Quiche, Cinnamon Rolls and Wassail.  YUM!  Oh, and presents ( :

My cousin Clayton and Aunt Celia from California were here for Christmas, along with my Mimi, cousin Tom, Aunt Diane and her bf Gary.  We had a full house and present time was crazy fun!  Sweet Latte got overwhelmed by all of the noise, so she picked a spot on top of some presents under the tree and barked if anyone got too close to her perch.  Poor pup!
My seastar Meredith was home for Christmas too!  I miss her when she's in DC and I know she misses us, so I got her a Texas shaped waffle maker!  She'll never be homesick again - ha!  I got a purple Clarisonic and I'm so excited.  I also most of the other things on my list, plus some cash which will be put to good use soon ( :

After present time at my parent's house, we drove up to Frisco for a delicious brisket lunch (with mac n cheese! and green bean casserole!) with Brian's family.  Latte crashed in the backseat during the drive and then found a cozy spot on Aunt Amanda's lap.  We had a good time at the Flores house opening presents, hanging out and watching part of National Lampoon's Christmas Vacation.  LOVE that movie!

All too soon, it was time to drive back to my parent's house for Christmas dinner.  My mom always does a traditional turkey dinner with dressing, sweet potatoes, mashed potatoes, homemade rolls and this year I added creamed spinach to the mix.  Dinner was so yummy.  Plus, the Frisco Caldwells and Reynolds came too!  We went home with a car full of presents, tummies full of food and hearts full of Christmas love.  It was a fabulous Christmas!
